Profile of the Program

The communication difficulties arising from the emergence of the changes occurring in the developing social order, and the efforts to eliminate these problems have provided to the development of public relations and helped to become a profession. The basis of PR which creatives positive relationships within mutual understanding between institutions and audiences, and for this, continues efforts towards to the planned communication, is based on communication science.

 Institutional sense, The PR, aims to light on society through its works, to reflect this audience by creating a corporate identity, to be in cooperation with public by exchanging information, so makes it easier to work out, to be in aware of social society responsibility, and to achieve this as known in the community. Today, also, being released the importance of public relations in various public and private institutions have increased the needs of professionals in the sector. The relevant sections of the communication faculty providing education in this area have trained equipped individuals for necessary manpower.

 In Public Relations and Publicity Department, besides media sector in which dizzying growth and progress have been seen especially in the last years, there are some studies for the purpose of providing skilled manpower in areas such as communications management, marketing, advertising, and management consulting. In this department, primarily as well as theoretical and practical communication lessons, also has been given advertising, human relations, psychology and sociology lessons with intensity. In addition to the theoretical information, application lessons have provided the individuals to warm up to the profession. At the same time, completed projects and provided training opportunities have provided better understanding of public relations, and predicted the problems in working life and to able to coped with them.

In this department beginning its academic life in 2009- 2010, primarily as well as theoretical and practical communication lessons, also has been given advertising, human relations, psychology and sociology lessons with intensity. Four assistant professors, one lecturer and four research assistants are working full time in the department located on Rectorate Campus of Fırat University. In terms of theoretical and practical applications, there are Fırat University Radio and television connecting to the faculty and a computer lab kept open all day.
